Metamo Sports,The founder and organizer of Lagos Liga held its first Board Meeting, gathering a notable group of board members to establish the company’s strategic vision and its premier football league.

Lagos Liga serves as Metamo’s premier elite recreational football league, which launched last year and is structured as a fan-focused, technology-driven competition that unites Nigeria’s top football talents.

The gathering signified a significant step forward in positioning Lagos Liga as a football league that is internationally recognized, financially viable, and focused on community engagement, built on digital advancement and cultural significance.

The head of the board is Mr Idris Olorunnimbe.

I’m thrilled to take on the role of chairman at Metamo — football for the people, by the people; a worldwide, fan-focused league where future stars are developed and legends continue to shine. Collaborating closely with Japheth Omojuwa and our outstanding team, we will focus even more on the business of sports, positioning Metamo Lagos Liga as an economic force that supports jobs and small and medium enterprises.

We will implement e-commerce strategies throughout the value chain — including jerseys, merchandise, and fan engagement — while strengthening partnerships that support clubs, players, and communities. Lagos Liga has been developed using intelligent technology and innovative communication — digital operations, data, payments, and storytelling that link players, clubs, and fans — and we will expand this base.

The leadership of the board also features Dr. Samirah Buhari as Vice Chairman, Mr. Azeez Lawal – Head of the Finance and Corporate Governance Committee, Ms. Eniola Edun – Head of the Sponsors and Partnerships Committee, Ms. Leruo Ichaba – Personal Advisor to the Founder, and Ms. Sandra Omoniyi – Executive Secretary and Lagos Liga League Commissioner.

The board meeting also included input from Japheth Omojuwa, the founder, who greeted the board members and highlighted the role of Lagos Liga in establishing a new football standard that recognizes talent, encourages excellence, and fosters both local and global participation.
