Multiple award-winning artists, Blessing Shumba and Mark Ngwazi, will serve as the main attractions at a music event scheduled to conclude the first Tawanda Marwizi Sports Tournament in Buhera South on August 30.
The high-profile gathering, set to include dancehall performer Culture Love and gospel artist Cloris Machuwaire from Chipinge, is scheduled to be held at Muzokomba High School between 8am and 6pm, offering free entry to everyone.
The event comes after a day of soccer and netball games featuring eight local wards, all participating under the tournament’s theme “Unlocking Rural Sport Talent.”
Hosted by the Tawanda Marwizi Foundation, the integrated sports and cultural event is a key component of an extensive initiative aimed at reducing drug and substance abuse among young people by encouraging their involvement in sports and the arts.
Shumba, recognized for his strong gospel songs, pledged “a spiritually inspiring and lively show” that will keep the audience moving.
Ngwazi, riding the success of his top-charting songs, stated that Buhera should “prepare for a big show.”
“This goes beyond mere entertainment; it’s about providing our youth with a stage to excel and guiding them toward a more promising future,” said Tawanda Marwizi, the tournament’s founder.
We aim for this to become an annual event that continues to expand each year.
The day will include complimentary health screenings and various awards for top-performing teams and individuals.
By combining athletics, music, and community wellness, the organizers are sure the event will establish itself as a regular part of Buhera’s social schedule.
Local musical groups are also anticipated to play on the day.
