Dhaka, August 19 — The National Citizen Party (NCP) has removed its Joint Member Secretary, Mahin Sarkar, for alleged breaches of party rules.

The choice was made following the instruction of the party’s Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, according to an NCP press statement released on Monday.

As per the announcement, the deportation decree is effective immediately and will stay in place until otherwise stated.

Sources within the party stated that Mahin Sarkar had declared his candidacy for the position of General Secretary (GS) in the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, representing the group headed by Jamaluddin Muhammad Khalid, who is the convener of the Swadhin Bangladesh Chhatra Sangsad.

The leadership of the NCP characterized his action as a significant violation of party rules and immediately imposed consequences upon him.
