Accra, August 23, GNA – The Design and Technology Institute (DTI) has certified 525 Mastercraft Individuals, Artisans, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Ho, located in the Volta Region.
These alumni, some of whom have physical disabilities, have finished their training in Precision Quality (PQ) through the DTI/Mastercard Foundation Project Phase Two program.
The gathering focused on the topic: “Precision Quality in Action: Incorporating the Informal Sector into the Broader Ghanaian Economy.”
Mr. Edwin Faryosey – a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at DTI – spoke at the event, stating that the graduates have adopted a fresh approach to thinking, characterized by a commitment to excellence, discipline, and ongoing development.
The attendees were given certificates, whereas those who showed satisfactory performance received different tools for their enterprises.
He mentioned that the training went beyond developing skills, focusing instead on influencing mindsets, elevating benchmarks, and equipping them to take leadership roles within their fields.
He also remarked, ‘We acknowledge the courageous move you have made in formalizing your businesses.’
Mr. Faryosey stated that formalization goes beyond just a certificate, serving as their key to expansion, acknowledgment, and long-term viability.
He mentioned that it created access to contracts, funding, and broader possibilities, ensuring their art the recognition it warranted.
He mentioned that, aside from knowledge and formalization, “We also understand that tools are the essence of your work.”
That’s why today we are pleased to introduce you to various hand tools designed to assist your business operations.
He mentioned that these tools were more than just equipment; they represented investments in their art, their future, and their communities.
“We believe you will utilize them with responsibility, not just to boost your efficiency but also to uphold the greatest levels of accuracy and quality,” he added.
He encouraged them to become ambassadors of quality craftsmanship, rather than just artisans, stating, “Let your work showcase the excellence you have acquired here, let your businesses become stronger and more structured, and let the tools you receive today represent a brighter, more professional future.”
