Sad news incoming for The Vampire Diaries fans, as Nina Dobrevand her boyfriend, Shaun White, have gone their separate ways.

The Canadian actress, 36, started seeing the Olympic snowboarder, 39, five years back, and he proposed with a stunning diamond ring in October last year.

Unfortunately, they were never meant to reach the altar, as it has been confirmed that, although on good terms, they are no longer a couple.

A reliable source connected to the ex-couple revealed the information.People, stating that it was a ‘mutual choice’, even though it was not an ‘easy one’.

“But it was created with affection and a strong sense of mutual respect,” they added.

Nina, who is well-known for her role as Elena Gilbert in the supernatural teen series, and Shaun, an athlete who has won three Olympic gold medals, were last seen together on August 31, hand in hand, while running errands in Los Angeles.

However, a week later, on September 7, the actor from Degrassi: The Next Generation was spotted at the Toronto International Film Festival with an uncovered hand, and no engagement ring was visible, causing speculation.

When did Nina Dobrev and Shaun White first meet?

The couple, who were previously infatuated, reunited in Florida at the end of 2019 when they both delivered speeches at an event hosted by motivational speaker Tony Robbins.

Following the party, Nina and Shaun headed to a nearby eatery for a meal, where feelings started to ignite.
