The outstanding Indiana Jones adventure from MachineGames receives a new narrative expansion, offering additional tombs to explore and artifacts to uncover.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is like a movie version of a favorite comfort meal, taking viewers back to more straightforward days. Indy confidently explores tombs without worrying about protecting the sites or artifacts (except for those he hides in his bag), and most of the villains are Nazis who clearly deserve to be defeated.

The films have had a significant impact onvideo games, from Tomb Raiderto every mine cart level you have ever experienced, but the only successful official adaptations were The Fate Of Atlantis and the graphic adventure inspired by The Last Crusade. That means last year’sThe Great Circledefinitely was the first good action game to include Indiana Jones, featuring enjoyable combat, diverse challenges, and excellent executionHarrison Ford impression by Troy Baker.

Although Indiana’s journal allows you to revisit locations from The Great Circle that you’ve already explored in search of any artifacts you may have overlooked, nothing can replace the excitement of discovering something new. This makes the release of The Order of the Giants, the game’s first downloadable content, a highly anticipated addition.

The downloadable content’s narrative is set inthe Vatican, which was the first open world area in the primary game, and allows you to explore areas of Rome that were previously inaccessible through a new but connected mission. To start, you meet Father Ricci, a young priest passionate about archaeology, whose pet parrot Pio is at least as prominent a character as its owner.

Ricci has been examining historical records regarding the Nameless Crusader, a legendary fighter whose helmet is believed to be located in underground chambers beneath the papal residence of Pope Paul IV. However, he has not been able to uncover much more information, primarily due to the fact that the pope’s old villa is now protected by numerous well-armed guards.

Being in Rome, these are not the German type, often portrayed as cannon fodder in war films and the Indiana Jones series, but rather the Black Shirts, who were loyal to Italian leader Mussolini, who also appears briefly at the beginning. It’s clear that the specific type of fascist you’re confronting isn’t that significant, but it’s an intriguing recognition that it wasn’t only Germany that was involved in the Second World War.
