The mystery movie “Face” (directed by Yeon Sang-ho and produced by Wow Point) is breathing new life into the cinema as it leads the Korean box office this weekend.

As per the Korea Film Council’s integrated computer network for movie theater ticketing, ‘Face’ drew 281,925 attendees during its opening weekend, with a total of 317,243 viewers overall, securing the top position on the Korean box office. The box office was second only to the full-length animation ‘The Blade of Extinction in the Theater: Infinite Castle’ (directed by Haruo Sotozaki).

‘Face’ stands out as a well-crafted production led by experienced professionals, featuring a keen thematic awareness similar to director Yeon Sang-ho’s earlier films, backed by strong production quality, a dual mystery centered around a character named Jung Young-hee (Shin Hyun-bin), and Ho-yeon, who embody Korean cinema, are now dominating the theater scene and demonstrating their box office success.

CGV’s egg index stands at 94%, indicating strong visitor satisfaction. Viewers who saw the film over the weekend have given it high scores for its many appealing aspects, and it is anticipated to remain a popular trend in the second week of its release.

“Face” is a film that follows a blind man who turns into a versatile craftsman, along with his son, wife, and mother who have been buried for 40 years. Park Jung-min, Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Hyun-bin, Lim Sung-jae, and Han Ji-hyun are featured in the movie. Yeon Sang-ho, the director of “Train to Busan,” is at the helm. The movie is set to premiere on the 11th.
