Aero Contractors, the oldest aviation company in Nigeria, made a significant impact at the recently held Aviation Africa Summit and Exhibition in Kigali, Rwanda, by presenting its enhanced and growing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services.

The conference, attended by business leaders, airlines, authorities, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) from throughout the continent, offered Aero an opportunity to showcase how its MRO department is establishing itself as a dependable ally for airlines looking for effective, reliable, and locally-based maintenance services in Africa.

As stated by Engr. James Ominyi, Head of the Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) Division at Aero Contractors, the event sparked considerable interest from both local and global operators. “Our enhanced skills and continuous improvements are drawing substantial attention from airlines aiming to cut expenses and shorten turnaround periods by performing their major maintenance tasks on the African continent,” Ominyi remarked.

The team from Aero Contractors was headed by top executives, such as the Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Charles Grant; Head of AMO, Engr. James Ominyi; Technical Director, Engr. Emmanuel Adeyeye; General Manager for Rotary Wing, Engr. Garba Mouktar; and MRO Business Development Manager, Mr. Adeyemi Adewojo.

It is worth mentioning that Aero’s recent accomplishments have garnered full backing from the leadership of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), who have consistently shown their dedication to addressing its aviation portfolio through strategic collaboration and to aiding Aero in expanding its MRO services as a regional hub.

Aero’s MRO located in Lagos is among the most sophisticated centers in West and Central Africa, offering services that include:

* Routine and Structural Maintenance for Boeing 737 Classic and NG models, along with regional jets and turboprop aircraft.

* Aircraft maintenance for routine and unexpected inspections, covering the AW139 and other rotary-wing systems.

* Comprehensive Training Sessions – covering wheels and braking systems, batteries, interior furnishings, structural fixes, and aviation electronics, currently being enhanced in accordance with global standards and readiness for EASA approval.

The facility has received certification from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and has also been approved by various international regulatory bodies, such as the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority, and the Senegalese Civil Aviation Authority, along with others. These approvals highlight Aero’s adherence to worldwide aviation standards and its trustworthiness among both African and non-African operators.

Aero MRO has provided services to both local and regional airlines. Its base maintenance clients consist of PassionAir from Ghana, Transair from Senegal, and numerous Nigerian airlines, in addition to line maintenance assistance for Royal Air Maroc. The company’s rotary-wing MRO has also aided offshore oil and gas operators, highlighting Aero’s range of capabilities and technical proficiency.

Having more than six decades of aviation history, Aero is leveraging its legacy to support the next generation of African operators,” stated Charles Grant, Chief Financial Officer of Aero Contractors, who added, “Our enhanced MRO is a strong indication that Africa possesses the skills and facilities needed to maintain its aviation sector locally, thereby reducing expenses, generating employment, and preserving value within the continent.
