The 2024 Thai movie How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies (Lahn Mah) took center stage at the 33rd Suphannahong National Film Awards on Sunday, winning nine awards such as Best Picture and Best Actor for Putthipong ‘Billkin’ Assaratanakul.

The renowned event was hosted by the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Associations (MPC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, One Bangkok, and Amarin TV, taking place on September 14 at One Bangkok.

How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies was shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards. It marked the first Thai film to reach the top 15, although it did not secure a spot in the top five.

Other prominent winners were “The Paradise of Thorns” (2024), which won Best Supporting Actress for Seeda Puapimon, as well as Best Costume Design, Best Art Direction, Best Original Song, and Best Cinematography.

Youth We Trust (2024) received the Best Supporting Actor award for Bhumibhat ‘Aelm’ Thavornsiri, whereas Taklee Genesis (2024) was honored with Best Visual Effects and Operation Undead (2024) took home the Best Make-Up Effects prize.

The People’s Choice Award was won by Uranus 2324 (2024), while Death Whisperer 2 (2024) was acknowledged as the most profitable Thai film of the year.

“Breaking the Cycle” (2024) received the award for Best Documentary Film.

The 33rd Suphannahong Awards stands as Thailand’s most esteemed film honor, recognizing three decades of outstanding achievements in Thai filmmaking.
