Korean-American actor Greta Lee transformed her image from that of her first love in the film “Tron: Ares” and reappeared as a fierce action heroine.

The media event for the film ‘Tron: Ares’ took place at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 15th. Actress Greta Lee was present at the gathering.

Coming out on October 8, ‘Tron: Ares’ is a visually stunning action film that follows a chaotic situation triggered by the arrival of the advanced AI weapon Ares from the digital realm into the physical world. The movie is directed by Joachim Roening, who also helmed ‘Maleficent 2’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Don’t Have Words’.

Greta Lee shared her thoughts on her initial trip to South Korea, saying, “I can’t believe I’m actually here. It’s truly significant for me. I’ve been in the acting industry for many years, but I never thought I’d end up in Korea with a Hollywood film like ‘Tron: Ares’. Isn’t he the first Korean character in the ‘Tron’ franchise?” She mentioned that he asked her about beginning a media tour in Korea, and she responded that she should come without any concerns.

Greta Lee portrays Yves Kim, the CEO of the IT firm Encom and one of the most skilled programmers globally. He said, “I had to rely heavily on my physicality in this role. The stunt work was challenging, and I felt humbled during the preparation. ‘Fast Lives’ was more static, and if you delivered an emotional performance that delved into the character, ‘Tron: Areth’ was unique because it allowed you to utilize your body.”

He then expressed his concerns about the preparation for the action sequence, saying, “‘My running abilities have gotten better, and I could compete in the Olympics.’” If you don’t run correctly in every running scene, it could be fatal. “Tron: Areth” presents a unique cyberpunk perspective and an impressive scope that blends the virtual and real worlds. Greta Lee aimed to highlight the character’s humanity, focusing on the essence of being human, particularly in terms of performance. “The film should appeal to everyone. Yves Kim is analytical and intelligent but still a regular person compared to my actual self. I wanted to depict the journey of an ordinary person in an extraordinary situation and demonstrating superhuman abilities,” he mentioned.

He then expressed his emotions following his initial collaboration with director Joachim Lening. Greta Lee said, “When I reflect on my work with the director, I only have positive things to say. To properly create a film of this magnitude, certain requirements must be met as a director, and he fulfilled all of them. If you examine the thoroughness of the production of ‘Tron: Ares,’ you can see that it is at the highest level compared to anything else.”

Greta Lee, a Korean-American actress, has established a strong career in Broadway, television, and film over the past two decades. She received a prime-time Emmy nomination for best supporting actress for her role in the TV series The Morning Show, solidifying her status in Hollywood.
