Korean-American actress Greta Lee shared her thoughts on the growing global interest in Korean culture.

Greta Lee mentioned during a press event for the film ‘Tron: Ares’ at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 15th, “Korea was already aware of its excellence, but it seems the entire world has now acknowledged it.”

Coming out on October 8, ‘Tron: Ares’ is a visually stunning action film that follows a chaotic situation triggered by the appearance of the advanced AI weapon Ares, which moves from the digital realm into reality. The movie is directed by Joachim Roening, known for ‘Maleficent 2’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Dead Don’t Have Words’. Greta Lee portrays Yves Kim, the CEO of IT firm Encom and one of the top programmers globally.

He attempted to concentrate on the human aspect of the character, the individual themselves, particularly the element centered around acting. “The film should appeal to everyone. Yves Kim is analytical and smart, yet an ordinary person in comparison to my real self. I aimed to depict the experience of a regular person in an extraordinary scenario and demonstrating superhuman abilities,” he mentioned.

For over two decades, Greta Lee has established a strong presence in the world of Broadway, television, and film. She received a prime-time Emmy nomination for best supporting actress for the TV series The Morning Show, solidifying her status in Hollywood. Her work in the Korean film Fast Lives helped make her well-known in South Korea, and she was also recognized with a nomination for best actress at prestigious events like the Golden Globe Awards and the Critics’ Choice.

Greta Lee stated, “I believe the entire world is finally becoming aware and discovering, even though Koreans were already aware of their excellence on their own. I’m very happy when culture, art, fashion, films, and more are so appreciated, and I feel that the things I was certain about are now acknowledged. I’m really excited because I think this is just the start, both as an actor and as a person. I can’t wait to see how much more the world will discover,” he shared his joy.
