Director Yeon Sang-ho (47) stated, “I found enjoyment in zombies while working on Jun Ji-hyun’s leading role in ‘Collective.”

Director Yeon Sang-ho revealed his upcoming film project during an interview with the mystery movie ‘Face’ (produced by Wow Point) on the afternoon of the 15th.

Director Yeon Sang-ho is scheduled to release the Netflix film ‘Collective’ and the Japanese Netflix series ‘Gas Man’ as his upcoming projects next year, following ‘Face’. Notably, ‘Gasman’ was directed by Japanese filmmaker Shinjo Katayama, while director Yeon Sang-ho contributed to the script and served as a producer, generating interest.

Director Yeon Sang-ho once again realized how enjoyable zombie films can be while working on “Collective.” When asked if it is similar to ‘Train to Busan: Pandemic,’ he noted that the zombies are different. ‘Collective’ is likely a film centered around collectivism. Artificial intelligence is also an algorithm rooted in collectivism. It’s definitely a collectivist film. This is a story that offers a unique sense of fear and different rules compared to movies I’ve seen before. It’s certainly going to be a zombie movie that stands apart from previous ones. Additionally, ‘colonies’ and ‘gasmen’ are also distinct. Perhaps ‘Gasman’ will come out first, but it will present a completely new challenge for me. I’m taking on a completely different role, writing and producing a script for a series from another country,” he said.

“Face” is a narrative centered around a blind man who transforms into a versatile craftsman, along with his son, and his wife and mother who have been entombed for 40 years. Park Jung-min, Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Hyun-bin, Lim Sung-jae, and Han Ji-hyun are featured in the film, while Yeon Sang-ho, the director of “Train to Busan,” directed the project.
