Robert Redford, who passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 89, possessed several remarkable properties throughout the western United States during his lifetime, indicating that his numerous films set in this region had a long-term impact on him.

Redford’s collection of residences — which he and his wife, Sibylle Szaggars, started selling over the past seven years — had a value exceeding $20 million, as per property records.

At least two of the residences owned by Redford or Szaggars were located in Sundance,Utah, the ski and resort community that the actor and filmmaker established in 1969.

His representative, Cindi Berger, shared with Daily Mail that Redford passed away at ‘his home in Sundance, nestled within the mountains of Utah—the location he cherished, surrounded by the people he cared for’.

The region was named following his role as a fugitive in the popular 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

A cabin owned by Redford in the mountain area was a small but appealing 1,500-square-foot house, located very close to the real ski resort, which he sold to new buyers in 2020.

The house is located on a 1-acre plot and has a raised position above the road. Images of the property reveal that the front yard featured a garden full of yellow daisies.

The residence, which is not available for sale, is currently estimated to be valued at approximately $2.3 million, as per Zillow’s assessment.

Szaggars purchased a house in Sundance during the late 1980s. This is how the couple eventually met in the 1990s, leading to their marriage in 2009.

The three-level cabin inspired much of Szaggars’s multimedia environmental art, according to real estate agent Jaisa Bishop.Mansion Global.

This is due to its location among pine trees and offering stunning vistas of the 12,000-foot Mount Timpanogos.

The house features four bedrooms, several decks providing distinctive vistas, and a guest suite on the lower level that includes a kitchenette, living space, and a private deck with a view of the trees.

Szaggars put the house up for sale at just under $4 million in July 2024. It was purchased for an undisclosed amount during the same month.

Redford released another asset in June 2021; this time it was his 30-acre equestrian estate, named following his 1998 film ‘The Horse Whisperer’.

The property is approximately 16 miles north of Sundance and was listed for $4.9 million. According to thelisting, it was sold out in eight days.

It is located at the northern border of Deer Creek Reservoir and the Provo River, and also provides scenic views of Mount Timpanogos.

Redford acquired the property in 1996 as a location for his horses to train during the winter months. The ranch included a shed, a utility structure, a stable, and a small single-family house.

One of Redford’s latest transactionsserved as a residence in Tiburon, California, which he put up for sale at a price of $4.15 million in December 2024.

A 2,824-square-foot home constructed in 1968 is located on the Tiburon Peninsula and offers a view of the San Francisco Bay. It also features stunning vistas of Keil Cove and Angel Island.

A split-level cottage located on a 0.2-acre plot is encircled by tall redwood trees. The listing agent, Steven Mavromihalis from Compass, referred to the home as a ‘haven of seclusion’.

The house is located in a quiet cul-de-sac with little traffic, as stated by Mavromihalis, and features a large family room, a two-car garage, a front porch and garden area, as well as wide decks that face south and east.

Redford initially purchased the house for $3.1 million in 2020, andit was sold for $4.65 million.

Redford also had a residence in Napa Valley that he possessed for 14 years prior to listing it for sale in 2018 at a price of $7.5 million.

The property, named Danza del Sol, included a primary residence, an artist’s studio, and a workshop during Redford’s ownership.

The primary residence provides 5,255 square feet of living area, featuring three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.

Redford eventually sold his vineyard retreat for $7 million in January 2019.
