Digital advancement and global competitiveness within Nigeria’s financial market will be the main focus as the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) organizes its major event, the Annual Stockbrokers’ Conference.
Centered on the theme “Capital Markets in a Digital, Ethical, and Sustainable Era: Charting Pathways for Economic Transformation,” the conference will bring together leading government representatives, regulators, market participants, investors, and global specialists to examine how Nigeria’s capital market should develop to drive sustained economic expansion.
Digital advancements are transforming the way capital is gathered and allocated. Ethical management has become a necessity for establishing credibility. Moreover, sustainability is no longer a choice. It is crucial for ensuring lasting stability.
“This merging occurs at a critical time as Nigeria aims to evolve into a $1 trillion economy. The capital market needs to lead this change,” stated Bashir Adewale, Chairman of the Annual Conference Committee.
The two-day gathering, taking place on Thursday, October 16, and Friday, October 17, at the Los Angeles Event Centre (LAEC) in Abuja, is designed to offer an engaging blend of knowledge, creativity, and strategic approaches. Major themes will cover: Fintech, Blockchain & Artificial Intelligence within capital markets, Ethical practices and regulatory adherence, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment, investor learning and security, and the role of youth and women in finance.
Fiona Ahimie, CIS First Vice President, highlighted the Institute’s dedication to drawing in and supporting the upcoming wave of capital market experts.
“Succession and sustainability are essential for our future. This year’s conference provides us with an opportunity to connect directly with students and young professionals, showing them the various career options available in stockbroking, investment banking, asset management, and other fields,” said Ahimie. “Young Nigerians are tech-savvy and eager for opportunities. We need to reach them where they are by offering creative, technology-based solutions and easy access to the financial system,” she added.
Ahimie also emphasized the importance of improved financial literacy, especially for young people and entrepreneurs.
Many young Nigerians are victims of Ponzi schemes and financial fraud because of insufficient knowledge. Our goal is to make a difference by establishing the capital market as a genuine, trustworthy option for funding, investment, and wealth creation.
Participants can look forward to a diverse mix of top-tier keynote addresses, general sessions, expert panels, and engaging small group conversations led by professionals from throughout Nigeria and other regions.
Other notable features are: A Capital Market Career Fair aimed at students from schools and universities in the FCT, a regulatory engagement trip to the Central Bank of Nigeria, specialized Brokers’ networking sessions focusing on fintech innovation, sustainable finance, and financial inclusion, as well as highlighting the role of youth and women in the capital market.
Recognized as Nigeria’s leading capital market event, the Annual Stockbrokers’ Conference offers exceptional chances for education, cooperation, and connection. It brings together stockbrokers, asset managers, pension administrators, fintech pioneers, regulators, insurers, and decision-makers in one place.
