Films are my faith. While creating a movie, I wish it to be my entire existence. I might even sacrifice my life for it.
—Words from Quentin Tarantino in the documentary *Quentin Tarantino 8*
A person who can declare, “I would be content to die doing just this” is blessed. Although they may not escape the many challenges that come with life, if their objective is well-defined, these difficulties are simply minor obstacles on the path. On the other hand, if the objective is unclear, even a small obstacle can lead to a fall and cause severe harm.
To me, the ultimate example of a lucky individual is the filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. Each time I witness him passionately talking about films, I experience both jealousy and a feeling of inadequacy. When I ask myself, “Do I have something I can discuss with that level of enthusiasm?” my responses fall short. He motivates me, saying, “It’s not too late, so keep pushing forward.” What could be more unjust than a life ending before discovering a purpose worth sacrificing for?
