Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has shared that she had a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure, not for appearance, but for her psychological well-being.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, a mother of three revealed she faced challenges with her self-image following childbirth and chose cosmetic surgery to regain her confidence.
“I wasn’t satisfied with how I appeared when I looked back at myself after having my third child. Therefore, I felt it was important for me to be happy and self-assured. I needed to undergo procedures for my own sake, not for anyone else, but for my mental well-being — to feel good, okay, and adequate,” she stated.
The actress, who has three children delivered via C-section, stated that pregnancy and surgical procedures have changed her body.
“No one is perfectly shaped, especially not mothers who have had cesarean sections. I’ve had mine three times; it’s not easy to keep that kind of body. So, I won’t just vanish and return with a flat stomach and a great figure. That’s not what I stand for,” she added.
In contrast to numerous celebrities who maintain confidentiality about their treatments, Ogbodo chose to be open and honest.
“In this country, I often feel uncomfortable because people aren’t truthful, particularly celebrities. You’re supposed to be a role model, yet you lie to those who admire you. Why are you a shining star if you can’t be a torchbearer? Many people just vanish and then return with an impressive physique. They appear as if that’s how they were born. That’s not the case. You put in work on your body. So why are you now concealing the fact that you worked on yourself?” she questioned.
The actress mentioned that her husband fully supported her choice, aware of the challenges she encountered. Regarding the risks associated with the surgery, Ogbodo minimized concerns.
“There is risk in every aspect of life. There is danger in contracting malaria. However, I wasn’t afraid because I was with the right people,” she stated.
Ogbodo argued that the process was her method of rivaling herself rather than others.
“I am sufficient competition for myself,” she stated.
