Coupang stated on the 23rd that it is speeding up the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven automation and robotic systems, while increasing hiring for positions in these areas.
Coupang Fulfillment Service (CFS), the company’s logistics affiliate, announced that its Automation department currently has more than 750 employees, representing a 50% rise from September of the previous year. This is more than double the number of staff compared to January of last year, which was 330 people.
The Automation department mainly consists of full-time engineers responsible for operating and maintaining AI-driven automated machinery and robots. New positions focused on AI technologies, including industrial engineering and transportation equipment, have also arisen. CFS intends to recruit 180 more automation experts by the end of the year.
