The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated a technologically advanced immigration screening unit at Sialkot Airport in an effort to enhance border security and prevent unauthorized migration and human trafficking. This initiative was set up under the oversight of the FIA’s Gujranwala Directorate, and it was carried out in partnership with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), with backing from the Danish Embassy.

Fitted with advanced forensic and IT technologies, the unit is capable of swiftly detecting counterfeit visas, false passports, and questionable travel papers. Authorities noted that the enhanced system complies with international benchmarks, providing quicker and more precise inspections for travelers and enhancing general airport safety.

This advancement mirrors the existing “Second Line” immigration facilities functioning at major airports in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and Peshawar. The inclusion of Sialkot represents an additional move toward modernizing Pakistan’s border control and demonstrates progress in adhering to global standard procedures.

Officials stated that the program aims to promote safe and controlled migration, while minimizing dangers associated with human smuggling groups. They mentioned that improved technology and education will enable immigration officials to address possible risks more efficiently.

The FIA reconfirmed its dedication to broadening its collaboration with ICMPD in order to enhance Pakistan’s border management. Officials mentioned that further upgrades and amenities are being planned to safeguard the nation’s borders and ensure a safe and effective immigration process for travelers.
