Hong Kong-based singer-actor Nicholas Tse has etched a symbol representing his affection for pop star Faye Wong onto his guitar, a touching act that has drawn the interest of his fans.

According to SohuPhotos of Tse holding the guitar during a live performance in Guangzhou, China, were extensively shared on Weibo by tens of thousands of fans on Tuesday. Analysts pointed out that the design on Tse’s guitar is similar to the butterfly tattoo on Wong’s back. Tse also has a corresponding tattoo in the same location—a couple tattoo they obtained in Paris in 2000. The butterfly tattoos are seen as a symbol of their lasting love, signifying a lifelong promise: “No matter what occurs, we will find each other.”

Tse, aged 45, and Wong, who was 56, openly admitted their relationship in the early 2000s but separated in 2002. Wong eventually married a Chinese actor.Li YapengIn 2005, she has a daughter. Having been in a relationship for 11 years since reuniting, Tse and Wong have decided not to get married, referring to each other as “soulmates.” Wong follows a vegetarian diet, and Tse has learned to prepare vegan dishes for her. Although Tse is allergic to cat fur, she takes medication and has adjusted to living with pets along with Wong. Wong, who is known for her strict way of life, has also come to accept Tse’s dietary and lifestyle choices.

In recent years, Wong has mostly avoided entertainment events, only appearing at significant occasions. Her most recent public appearance was at CCTV’s 2025 New Year Gala. Tse made her singing debut in 1996 and started acting two years later, soon becoming a well-known personality in both the music and film industries.

Wong relocated from Beijing to Hong Kong at the age of 18 and became well-known in the early 1990s through her Cantonese music career. She earned global recognition for her performances in Wong Kar Wai’s movies, such as “Chungking Express” and “2046.”
