Nollywood performer Dayo Amusa has posted an insightful message for her followers, urging them to focus on their own joy and cease living to meet others’ expectations.
In a post on her Instagram account, the actress, who is running for Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Southwest, warned against always saying “yes” to others due to the fear of causing offense.
She emphasized that people are not accountable for others’ happiness, encouraging them to establish limits and safeguard their own well-being.
“Cease saying yes to everything and everyone. Stop agreeing with people merely to avoid causing them discomfort. You are not a doormat. You were not meant to be stressed and unhappy while others remain at ease and content,” she wrote.
Amusaemphasized that individuals should not experience guilt when choosing actions that focus on their own health, even if it causes discomfort to others.
According to her, “The world does not owe us anything. Our current position is a result of our choices, not our situations. Stop complaining and begin taking accountability for yourself.”
