Emma Watson, the Hollywood actress renowned for her role as Hermione in the “Harry Potter” franchise, expressed her genuine thoughts regarding her extended break and her acting journey.

In an interview with Hollywood Authentic, released on the 21st, Watson stated, “I am likely the happiest and healthiest I have ever been.” She has been away from acting since completing the filming of Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” in December 2018, marking a seven-year break.

She said, “What’s intriguing about being an actor is that you end up dividing yourself into various personalities. It’s not just about portraying a character; you also take on the responsibility of maintaining a public image.” She further mentioned, “Continuously developing, presenting, and enhancing this image requires a lot of energy.” Watson went on to say, “I believe letting go of these different identities has allowed me to be a better sister, daughter, friend, granddaughter, and artist.”

Watson acknowledged, “Marketing and selling artworks holds greater significance than the artwork itself. This process can upset equilibrium.” She revealed, “To be honest, I don’t find the business side enjoyable.”

She thought, “I used to believe that selling films was damaging to the soul, but I miss acting. I miss the essence of art.” She continued, “I simply came to understand that I wasn’t engaging in what I truly love.”

Watson mentioned, “The instant I get ready and contemplate how to perform on set, and the camera starts rolling, it feels like deep meditation. You can’t be anywhere else. It’s very liberating. I miss that, but not the huge stress.”

She stated, “The most crucial element, the base of existence, is home, companions, and relatives.” Watson remarked, “After exerting myself excessively for an extended period, I felt as though my life had reached its lowest point.”

During a 2023 conversation with the Financial Times, Watson also shared, “I was never completely content with acting. At times, I felt confined.”

In the meantime, Watson captured worldwide affection for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in “Harry Potter.” She remained involved in film projects including “Noah,” “The Bling Ring,” “The Circle,” and “Beauty and the Beast.” After “Little Women,” she took a break from acting and participated in the 2022 TV special “Harry Potter 20th: Return to Hogwarts.” Watson has been studying for a master’s degree in creative writing at Oxford University since 2023.
