, September 25 — On Thursday night, Coke Studio Bangla unveiled its sixth song from Season 3, titled ‘Moha Jadu,’ which blends Bangla mysticism with Farsi poetry, highlighting love’s magic as a power that moves the heart and soul.

The 4:14-minute song was written, organized, and directed by renowned musician Habib Wahid, signifying his much-awaited entrance on the Coke Studio Bangla channel.

The composition was created by Baul poet Shah Khowaj Mia, a follower of the esteemed mystic Durbin Shah, along with additional Farsi lines written by Hadis Dehgan. Habib Wahid was responsible for the mixing and mastering of the release.

In this version, Habib Wahid reimagines the classic lyrics with a lively electronic-folk style, and Tajik singer Mehrnigori Rustam provides her vocals, marking her debut for Bangladeshi listeners.

The music video for the track, helmed by renowned director Adnan Al Rajeev, carries forward the lively narrative that Coke Studio Bangla has been presenting during its third season.

As per Coke Studio Bangla, ‘Moha Jadu’ showcases similarities between Bengal’s Baul customs and Sufi-based Persian roots, connected by the common term ‘Jadu’ (magic) that unites these two cultures. The creators mentioned that the song combines new rhythms with spiritual elements, connecting time and boundaries through music.

The track also highlights how Persian once influenced Bengal’s cultural and literary history as the official language of the court for many years, leaving behind lasting words and narratives that still impact the area’s creative outputs.

Through “Moha Jadu,” Wahid continues his long-standing exploration of blending Baul folk with modern electronic music, introducing spiritual lyrics to a new audience and revitalizing tradition in a modern style.
