Renowned Yoruba actress Toyin Afolayan, also recognized as Lola Idije, has addressed the misunderstandings that many individuals hold about her because of the characters she has portrayed in films.

Lola Idije, recognized for her portrayal of a harsh mother-in-law in Yoruba films, revealed that her on-screen character contrasted greatly with her actual personality.

The actress, during a conversation on a podcast with her younger co-worker Ayo Adesanya, refuted allegations that her portrayal of a character on set was inspired by alcohol or smoking.

Lola, who mentioned that she only consumes water, shared her encounter with a rising actor who asked about the origin of her vitality in films.

As per the actress, God has been her wellspring of strength. Lola, who is also the younger sibling of the late Adeyemi Afolayan, known as Ade Love, one of the early trailblazers in the film industry, revealed that her brother was trained to be nimble in his performances.

Lola Afolayan became famous following her role as Madam Adisa in the 1995 movie called Deadly Affair. She is recognized for creating the widely used online expressions ‘Soro Soke werey’ and ‘Pele My Dear’.
