Lahore is set to host the European Day of Languages this week, as the Embassy of Portugal actively engages in cultural exchange and community outreach initiatives.

The gathering will also include meetings between Portuguese Ambassador Frederico Silva and students, public servants, and individuals from the cultural sector, aimed at enhancing relations between Portugal and Pakistan.

The Portuguese Embassy in Islamabad will take part in the European Day of Languages 2025 in Lahore, which will be held on September 26 and 27. This yearly event, jointly organized by the Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus (German Cultural Centre) and the Alliance Française de Lahore, with backing from the EU Delegation, unites European nations to encourage linguistic and cultural diversity.

As part of the initiative, Portuguese Ambassador Frederico Silva is scheduled to visit Forman Christian College. During his visit, he will conduct an engaging discussion with students and faculty members focusing on two topics: ‘Portugal and Pakistan Bilateral Relations’ and ‘Portuguese Language – A Global Voice.’

The Envoy is anticipated to emphasize the importance of the Portuguese language, which is used by over 260 million individuals throughout various parts of the world.

The European Day of Languages has evolved into a stage for highlighting the richness of European customs, thoughts, and dialects. For Portugal, this event also presents a chance to advocate for Portuguese as one of the globally spoken languages and to enhance academic and cultural ties with Pakistani organizations.

By taking part in the Lahore event, the Embassy of Portugal highlights its commitment to fostering closer interpersonal connections alongside formal diplomatic ties.
