Kathmandu, September 30 — During Phulpati, a highly significant day of Dashain, three Nepali movies — ‘Balidan’, ‘Maitighar’, and ‘Hari Bahadur Ko Jutta’ — were launched.

A humorous drama directed by veteran actor Hari Bansha Acharya, the movie centers on a lost pair of shoes owned by Hari Bahadur. It is lighthearted but also socially aware, aiming to tackle issues of social inequality and daily challenges through humor and irony.

Focusing on a missing pair of shoes, the movie employs humor and irony to highlight social inequality and the daily challenges faced by common individuals. Directed by Dipendra K Khanal and penned by Acharya, it showcases a talented ensemble with Swastima Khadka and Priyanka Karki in prominent roles.

Directed by Saroj Oli and Mohit Bansha Acharya under the SM Motion Pictures label, the film commenced filming in February 2025 at various sites in Kavre and Kathmandu.

Market as an emotional family drama, ‘Maitighar’ presents the narrative of a daughter departing from her family home. By highlighting themes of sacrifice, emotional bonds, and the deep influence of tradition, the movie is expected to resonate with viewers who appreciate tales centered around family and a sense of belonging.

Directed by Milan Tamang, the movie showcases a talented ensemble cast, featuring Upasana Singh Thakuri, Prakash Saput, Kedar Ghimire, Dhiraj Magar, Shyamashree Sherpa, and more. It presents a complex love triangle set within the context of Tamang traditions.

This narrative encourages us to contemplate the essence of family, connection, and the feeling of being at home. Her ‘Maitighar’ is not merely the house of her birth; it is where her feeling of belonging resides.

The movie was filmed in the villages of Myagdi (Takam, Dharapani) and the Tatopani-Darbang region. Its story brings together family connections, cultural heritage, romantic conflicts, and societal issues.

In line with its title, meaning “sacrifice,” Balidan is expected to showcase themes of patriotism and social issues. It tells a story focused on bravery, loyalty, and shared duty. The movie includes a vibrant group of actors such as Samir Bhatta, Saugat Malla, Reecha Sharma, and Santosh Sen, along with other notable performers, and is produced and released by OSR Digital Nepal.
