Pakistan, October 6 — PUTRAJAYA – Pakistan and Malaysia have decided to enhance their bilateral collaboration, especially in defense science, technology, and industry, by exchanging knowledge and technological expertise, during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s three-day official trip to Malaysia, which was extended by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
A joint statement released after the visit noted that both leaders assessed the condition of Malaysia-Pakistan relations and shared perspectives on regional and global matters of common interest.
Both parties reemphasized their dedication to fostering balanced and sustainable economic relations, encompassing improved market access, streamlined business processes, and the efficient implementation of the Malaysia-Pakistan Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA).

Malaysia has shown interest in increasing its palm oil exports to Pakistan, meeting the rising needs of the food processing and manufacturing industries. The two countries committed to ensuring a consistent and eco-friendly supply chain.
The officials committed to strengthening cooperation in halal certification, food distribution networks, and production, in reaction to increasing worldwide demand for halal goods and services.

The officials showed approval of the continuous military cooperation through the Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC), which was formed in 1997.
Ties have been enhanced via high-level visits, ministerial and military discussions, military-to-military interactions, and defense sector connections. Both parties pledged to further enhance collaboration, especially in defense science, technology, and industry, through the exchange of knowledge and technological expertise.
Cybersecurity and Counterterrorism: Both countries also committed to strengthening cooperation in the areas of cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, fighting organized crime, and preventing terrorist financing, including enhanced exchange of information and technical collaboration to tackle new challenges.
Acknowledging the importance of aviation in improving connectivity, Pakistan and Malaysia have decided to increase air traffic rights, allowing for more direct flights that will boost business, tourism, and cultural interactions.
Both leaders strongly criticized the continuing genocide in Gaza and emphasized their firm support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-governance and the creation of a Palestinian state that follows the borders existing before June 1967, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
They demanded an immediate, complete ceasefire, the termination of the Gaza blockade, safeguarding of civilians, and free access for humanitarian aid. Both parties emphasized the importance of a fair and enduring resolution to bring peace and stability to the area, supporting continued global initiatives aimed at achieving Palestinian statehood.
