- Monika experienced a severe skin reaction
- She adopted a natural approach to recover from it.
A woman who experienced a very serious allergic reaction to a drug, causing her skin to become as tough as ‘rock,’ has described what ultimately helped her get better.
Monika received an ITP diagnosis in 2021, which is an autoimmune condition leading to red and purple skin markings and impacting the blood’s ability to clot.
The disease kept her in the hospital for 23 days on theGold Coast, where she was given a combination of strong medications.
Even though the drug ultimately aided her recovery from ITP, it also led to a severe skin issue.
“My face would swell up almost every day, accompanied by a terrible crawling feeling on my chin. It would become inflamed, crack open, and drain each day. I couldn’t leave the house because people were so taken aback,” Monika said.
‘My life felt like a series of endless treatments and medications that never worked and my face felt ‘buried’ under a thick solid mass of steroid medication.’
The discomfort became so intense that Monika resorted to THC oil, which made her ‘completely high for five days’.
“My skin was in such a bad state that I could no longer go out in public, as people were so taken aback and kept kindly but insistently offering suggestions. This became too much,” Monika said.

‘I couldn’t bear the constant stream of comments and advice, and I no longer felt able to show my face because it was so confronting for others.
I was aware that I was in a desperate situation and felt as if no one could assist me.
However, physicians were unable to determine the cause of her skin becoming so rigid.
A confused general practitioner once sent images of Monika’s skin to a dermatologist in Germany — only for the expert to doubt whether the photos were genuine.
Following many years of experimenting with various treatments, Monika ultimately chose to adopt a completely natural method for her skin care.
She refused to letWater touched her skin, followed an anti-inflammatory diet featuring her homemade ‘turmeric and chili mixture’, practiced meditation, and used a more effective THC oil.
Shortly after, her skin started to flake off ‘in handfuls’ and by the sixth month, she had ‘a completely new face, complete with freckles’.
Melody Livingstone, CEO of MooGoo, stated that the proportion of Australians facing ‘allergic conditions’ has increased to 30 percent, compared to 20 percent in 2007.

She stated that the rise in eczema cases has been driven by extreme weather conditions, mold, pollen, and an increase in population.
“In the past year, there has been nearly a 50 percent rise in interest for our eczema products, with items selling out quickly once they are available,” said Ms. Livingstone.
