Old Mutual Namibia is greatly increasing its accessibility by providing its well-known financial education initiative in six local languages, with the goal of enhancing financial awareness throughout the nation.

The Financial Education Face-to-Face Training program by the Old Mutual Foundation was introduced in 2018, employing a creative “animal behaviour” method to make challenging financial topics such as budgeting, saving, and managing debt more accessible.

From the beginning, the program has emerged as one of Namibia’s top financial education initiatives. It has effectively equipped more than 50,000 Namibians, such as individuals, school groups, and business teams, with essential skills to make smart financial choices.

Acknowledging that genuine comprehension starts with effective communication, the Old Mutual Foundation has made a courageous move toward inclusiveness and accessibility by broadening its Financial Education initiative, which was mainly conducted in English, to six local languages: Afrikaans, Silozi, Rukwangali, Oshiwambo, Damara Nama, and Otjiherero.

This growth allows more Namibians to interact effectively with financial ideas in their native language. More languages, such as Setswana, Otjizemba, and Ju/’Hoansi (a San language), will be added in 2026.

“Understanding financial concepts in one’s native language eliminates obstacles, enhances understanding, and fosters long-term financial self-assurance,” stated Mignon du Preez, Executive for Group Marketing, Public Affairs, and Sustainability at Old Mutual Namibia.

This significant achievement underscores the Old Mutual Foundation’s steadfast dedication to overcoming cultural and language barriers, making sure that financial education is not just delivered but genuinely grasped by all Namibians. Through promoting greater financial inclusion and resilience, this growth reaffirms the Foundation’s commitment to providing every Namibian, irrespective of their background or place of work, with the understanding and resources needed to enhance families, businesses, and communities.
