SanlamAllianz has launched the sixth iteration of its Vision for Change campaign, a seven-day event focused on improving eye health services for disadvantaged students.
The project began on October 6 at the Coblenz Combined School, in collaboration with Shaetonhodi Optometrist. The initiative will continue until October 13.
SanlamAllianz mentioned that this year’s project will concentrate on the Otjozondjupa Region, offering thorough eye examinations to students at 22 schools. Over 1,273 students are anticipated to gain from the program, with 250 students specifically scheduled to get free glasses and required treatment to enhance their vision and school results.
The Manager of Marketing and Communications, Laurencia Prinzonsky, mentioned last year that they provided 288 pairs of glasses to students in the Hardap Region, and this year they are committed to raising that figure. “No student’s academic achievements should be affected by the high cost of eye care. At Sanlam, we feel that education is the basis for a successful future. Poor vision should not prevent a child from achieving their goals. Through these glasses, we are helping students gain confidence and clear vision to succeed,” she stated.
The Operations Manager at Shaetonhodi Optometrist, Mao Shaetonhodi, stated that they recognize the significant impact that clear vision has on a student’s academic success, social growth, and future prospects.
“To guarantee high-quality care, our group of skilled and experienced optometrists will carry out thorough screenings, treatments, and ongoing follow-up. This year, we are also adding health education and referrals for more complicated cases. Students needing glasses will get them within the next month,” he said.
Guiding you through history, Sanlam stated, since its launch in 2007, the program has reached over 2520 students, with more than 1000 receiving glasses to improve their educational journey.
“The initiative shows that it goes beyond being a simple outreach program; it is a commitment to better tomorrow, achievable through the strength of collaboration and community support,” they concluded.
