Dar es Salaam. Angella Kairuki, the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) parliamentary candidate for Kibamba Constituency, has promised to introduce the “Kairuki Cup” and upgrade football facilities throughout Kibamba in order to discover and develop young athletic talent that can compete at the national and global levels.
During a campaign event in Kwembe and Kibamba on October 12, 2025, Kairuki mentioned that the tournament will offer consistent competitive chances for young players and act as a stepping stone to more advanced stages of the sport.
“If I win in the next general election, I will create the Kairuki Cup to discover the abilities of our young athletes,” she stated.
Kairuki also mentioned that although Kibamba has football fields, many need immediate fixes to reach proper playing conditions.
She promised to improve and flatten the fields, creating a secure and appealing setting for practice and games.
Resident Agness Torokoka from Kibamba thanked for the initiative, stating that better facilities would provide local children with a genuine opportunity to hone their abilities and aim to represent Kibamba at larger platforms.
“Organized local competitions and strong infrastructure are crucial for nurturing talent,” Torokoka stated.
Local tournaments and enhanced facilities play a crucial role in developing top players, as highlighted by the Tanzania Football Federation’s grassroots efforts and broader initiatives from FIFA and CAF.
These initiatives have facilitated the connection between school and community football with national talent development systems.
