SSG and Samsung, who each secured one victory in Incheon, both revealed their top players in a crucial match that will decide the playoff standings. On the 13th, during the third game of the semifinal playoffs at Daegu Samsung Lions Park, SSG will have Drew Anderson on the mound, while Samsung will counter with Won Tae-in. Historically, in the best-of-five semifinal playoffs, the team that won the third game after being tied 1-1 has always advanced to the playoffs (a total of seven times).

Anderson, the team’s top pitcher, is recognized as the main player who helped SSG finish third in the regular season. He played in 30 games, achieving 12 victories, 7 defeats, and an ERA of 2.25. With 245 strikeouts during the season, he came close to Hanwha’s Cody Ponce but established the second-highest mark in KBO history. His performance against Samsung was notable, as he earned one win in two games against them, posting an ERA of 2.08, which was better than his overall season average.

Nevertheless, his recovery from the illness is uncertain. Anderson recently experienced enteritis, resulting in a 3 kg weight loss, which led to him missing the first and second games of the semifinal playoffs. Due to rain-induced delays that postponed the schedule, he managed to gain sufficient time to regain his health.

Samsung responds with ace Won Tae-in. He pitched a flawless six-inning, no-run game against NC’s team in the second match of the wild card playoff on the 7th and will take the mound again after six days of rest. During the regular season, he had 12 wins, 4 losses, and an ERA of 3.24. Although he played in three games against SSG, he didn’t get a win or a loss. He had difficulties against SSG’s foreign batter Guillermo Ereidia, giving up four hits and one walk in five at-bats.
