The renowned Moroccan kickboxer, Tarik Khbabez, has successfully regained his light heavyweight championship by defeating Azerbaijan’s Bahram Rajabzadeh in an exciting match at the Glory 104 event in Rotterdam, Netherlands, which took place on Friday and Saturday night.

The contest began with Rajabzadeh establishing a fierce approach, delivering a strong blow that broke through Khbabez’s defenses and knocked him down. However, the fight saw a surprising shift in the second round when the Moroccan champion launched a resurgence, throwing a sequence of accurate and forceful punches that consistently hit their target.

Rajabzadeh found it difficult to recover his balance as Khbabez kept up constant pressure throughout the third round, even though his opponent tried to avoid the attacks. The continuous stream of powerful punches from Khbabez eventually resulted in the judges giving him a deserved win.

Reflecting on his performance, Khbabez remarked«It appears I always require someone to wake me up at the beginning, and my opponent exploited that in the first round, but after that punch, I regained my complete attention.»

After the match, Bahram Rajabzadeh declared his retirement from participation in the «Glory» organization.

Khbabez’s path to regaining the title was highlighted by a prior loss against Lithuanian athlete Sergej Masloboyev, who was eventually convicted of using performance-enhancing substances. Nevertheless, Khbabez did not view this as an excuse, commenting: “Regardless of whether he was taking banned substances or not, I didn’t feel like a champion after that loss. I had underestimated the match.”
