Hong Kong International Airport secured the title of “Asia’s leading airport” at the 2025 World Travel Awards, surpassing Singapore Changi, due to its ongoing efforts to enhance services and infrastructure.

This is the third year in a row that Hong Kong airport has received the recognition, as declared by the World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania organizers during a formal event on Monday.

Prior to the Covid pandemic, Changi Airport maintained the record for several consecutive years.

Hong Kong’s only international airport covers an area of 1,900 hectares and has been in service since 1998. It now offers flights to 220 locations via 120 different airlines. In the previous year, it managed 39.5 million travelers, which is 55% of the number seen in 2019.

It has recently enhanced its services and infrastructure to improve the standard of passenger experience.

The larger Terminal 2 departure area is anticipated to commence operations as soon as March of the following year, with approximately 15 airlines relocating in stages, as stated by the Airport Authority Hong Kong.

The airport has also introduced a complimentary city tour for passengers with layovers exceeding seven hours, with the goal of drawing in 5.5 million travelers annually.

The World Travel Awards, founded in 1993, honor outstanding achievements within the travel and tourism sector and are frequently called the “Oscars of the travel industry.” These yearly honors are decided through votes from both professionals in the travel field and general consumers.

Changi Airport, famous for housing the highest indoor waterfall globally, is often recognized as one of the top airports worldwide.
