, October 14 — Djibouti’s Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed met with Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser, on Monday during the World Food Forum held at the FAO headquarters.
At the meeting, the two leaders addressed various topics, such as boosting mutual trade and investment, adopting Bangladesh’s effective microfinance system in Djibouti, regional geopolitics, and the Rohingya issue.
Prime Minister Mohamed commended Professor Yunus, referring to him as a renowned figure in Djibouti, and invited him to visit the East African country.
“We seek your guidance on microfinance,” stated the leader of Djibouti, showing strong interest in implementing microfinance approaches within the predominantly Muslim nation.
In reply, Professor Yunus expressed appreciation for the interest and recommended that Djibouti send a group to Bangladesh to obtain practical exposure to its microfinance organizations.
He mentioned that Bangladeshi microfinance organizations provide continuous training, which visiting officials could find advantageous.
