Pakistan, October 14 — Wazir Mohammad, a former Pakistan Test cricketer, died at the age of 95 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
He was the older brother of Pakistan’s cricket icon Hanif Mohammad and played a significant role during the nation’s prosperous period in cricket.
Wazir Mohammad participated in 20 Test games representing Pakistan, scoring a total of 801 runs thanks to his strong batting skills and reliable mindset. He was among the pioneering group of Pakistani cricketers who contributed to building the country’s image on the global cricket stage throughout the 1950s and 1960s.
The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, conveyed profound grief at his demise, honoring Wazir Mohammad’s enduring contributions to the game.
“Services of Wazir Mohammad to cricket will always be recalled,” stated Mohsin Naqvi in his message of condolence.
The PCB and the cricket community throughout Pakistan expressed deep sympathy to the grieving family, acknowledging Wazir’s legacy as part of the legendary Mohammad brothers who established the base for cricket in Pakistan.
