Pakistan, October 14 — Pakistan strongly denied India’s misleading statements regarding Jammu and Kashmir at the UN. During the Fourth Committee meeting of the UN, Pakistan’s representative Asif Khan accused India of fabricating stories to conceal its occupation and human rights violations. He mentioned that India’s ongoing efforts to deceive the global community have not succeeded. Khan emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is still a disputed region, not part of India, and its future should be determined by a UN-organized referendum.
Khan highlighted that India was the one who raised the matter at the United Nations, yet now refuses to honor its obligations. He stated that the UN holds both the authority and responsibility to address the Kashmir issue. Citing international law, he mentioned that every individual under foreign rule has the right to self-determination. He pointed out that India’s actions clearly breach these principles and the UN Charter.

The Pakistani representative emphasized India’s extensive military presence in the occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir, where almost 900,000 soldiers are stationed against the local population. He criticized India for labeling the Kashmiri fight for independence as “terrorism” while overlooking its own violations. Khan outlined extrajudicial executions, widespread detentions, sexual abuse, and changes in population demographics as elements of India’s ongoing oppression. He stated that India’s actions since August 2019 breach the Fourth Geneva Convention.
He further alleged that India is supporting terrorism in the area by providing financial backing to organizations such as TTP and BLA, aiming to create instability in Pakistan. Khan claimed that India’s reputation as the “world’s largest democracy” is misleading, stating that it has instead become “the biggest source of misinformation and intolerance.” He noted that the ideology of the RSS-BJP fosters Islamophobia and discriminates against minority groups, raising alarms among international human rights organizations.

Khan cautioned that India’s aggressive actions pose a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He mentioned that Pakistan will keep highlighting India’s state-sponsored terrorism and advocating for the rights of Kashmiris at the United Nations. He stressed that Kashmir is still a contested area, and its inhabitants are entitled to justice and liberty. Even though India denies these claims, Pakistan has pledged to continue backing the Kashmiri movement until their right to self-governance is realized.
