Sri Lanka, October 16 – To commemorate International White Cane Safety Day, the first flag was symbolically attached to President’s Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on the previous day (15), initiating the week of flag sales.

The president of the Sri Lanka Federation for the Visually Impaired, Nilmini Samaraweera, affixed the flag to Dr. Kumanayake.

On this occasion, Dr. Kumanayake also handed out white canes to representatives of the Federation who came to the Presidential Secretariat to commemorate White Cane Day.

Samaraweera mentioned that the earnings from the flag-selling initiative will be used for the benefit of the visually impaired group.

The President’s Secretary had a friendly conversation with the Federation’s representatives. President’s Senior Additional Secretary Kapila Janaka Bandara, Assistant Secretary of the Federation Chameera Pubudu Kumara, and others were also in attendance.
