An 83-year-old individual was responding to a journalist’s query when he slipped while inside the basement of the Russell Senate Office Building on Thursday.
The KentuckyThe senator was assisted to his feet by an assistant and aCapitolPolice officer. He managed to wave briefly towards the camera before resuming his walk without any help.
The senior politician has experienced multiple public falls since 2019, with the most recent incident occurring in February when he fell twice in a single day at the Capitol.
The waterfalls are believed to be a result of the “lasting impact of polio on his left leg” following his childhood illness.
McConnell has experienced at least two instances where he suddenly stopped speaking mid-sentence for approximately 30 seconds in public.
In September 2023, Brian Monahan, the physician who treats members of Congress, stated that the symptoms were not indicative of a stroke or seizure, but rather attributed them to a concussion he sustained following a fall in March 2023.
