Actor Shin Goo, who is 90 years old, provided an update regarding his enhanced health after reports of his struggle with heart failure.
Actor Kim Seul-gi, 35, shared an image with Shin Goo on her Instagram on the 16th of last month, accompanied by the message, “Happy 90th birthday, Teacher Shin Goo.” The two stood together with a cake shaped like the number “90,” making a hand heart and beaming with smiles.
In the picture, Shin Goo smiled broadly and created a heart shape with his hand alongside Kim Seul-gi. Kim Seul-gi playfully shaped a heart close to Shin Goo’s face, striking a loving pose.
The two worked together earlier in the play *Grandfather Henri and Me*, where their dynamic went beyond age differences and received high acclaim from viewers.
Shin Goo previously appeared on tvN’s *You Quiz on the Block* and shared, “I was diagnosed with heart failure and am now using a cardiac pacemaker.” He mentioned, “My heart doesn’t beat properly—it beats at a slower pace. If not treated, this could result in a stroke because of inadequate oxygen supply. That’s why I received a pacemaker to control my heartbeat,” he added, “The device delivers electrical signals to bring back a regular rhythm when the heart becomes too slow.”
Although he was diagnosed with severe heart failure in 2023 and required a pacemaker, Shin Goo kept taking on powerful stage roles. He mentioned, “There were difficult times when fluid accumulated in my lungs, but I felt I needed to honor my commitment to the theater.”
Born in 1936, Shin Goo made his debut in 1962 with the play *The Ox* and has dedicated more than six decades to earning public confidence through theater, film, television, and variety programs. In recent times, he starred in the movie *High Five* and the play *Waiting for Godot*, maintaining his vibrant career.
