The recently concluded Zanu PF 22nd National People’s Conference met expectations as the revolutionary party took important economic decisions aimed at enhancing the lives of common citizens.
President Mnangagwa provided strategic guidance to party members during the significant conference, urging them to contribute their efforts in improving the lives of common citizens.
The party took significant economic actions in its resolutions by suggesting the elimination of financial policies that burden regular citizens, with the main one being the directive to abolish the Intermediated Money Transfer Tax, a two percent charge on money transfers.
It was believed that the IMMT had the impact of increasing the cost of conducting business and, in turn, the prices of goods and services, becoming a significant burden for the general public.
It was also suggested that the nation implement a single currency, simplifying the task for fiscal and monetary officials in handling economic factors like inflation, interest rates, and the expansion of the money supply.
Important choices were taken regarding agriculture, a crucial pillar of the economy and gross domestic product, with the party urging the growth of irrigation projects, the promotion of the food industry, and the execution of the title deeds initiative to secure land sustainability.
In his closing remarks, President Mnangagwa said Zanu PF was still alive and strong and would continue to fulfil its promises to improve the quality of life anchored by the needs of people in the grassroots.
President Mnangagwa stated that Zanu PF was as powerful and robust as an elephant, whose grand presence would not be intimidated by small creatures as it moves forward toward its goal.
“Zanu PF is alive, energetic, and powerful. It is the sole organized, proven, and reliable guardian of our revolution and continues to concentrate on improving the people’s standard of living. Hatidzokeri shure. (We will not retreat,) stated President Mnangagwa.
He mentioned that the party would keep honoring its commitments and urged party members to intensify their work in supporting the public.
“Let us re-dedicate ourselves to wholeheartedly serve the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe. Stay with them in their successes, hold their hands and render them support, in their time of need,” he said.
President Mnangagwa hailed the seamless way in which the conference was held, saying it showed the vibrancy of the party.
“The group has been outstanding, separate meetings smoothly arranged, and the venues excellent, in accordance with international best standards,” he stated.
Zanu PF has shown that we are a huge, revolutionary mass movement that is transformative, progressive, and ensuring that, as the citizens of this great nation, we remain in control of our own future.
The leader urged officials to intensify their actions in activating party organizations to attract more individuals to join the revolutionary party.
“The party’s administration needs to be centralized and cohesive under a single leadership. As mentioned in our State of the Party Report and Resolutions, we need to enhance the organization of our structures and expand our mobilization efforts,” he stated.
President Mnangagwa commended the conference for engaging in vigorous and open discussions.
“I commend this conference for developing our party’s and the nation’s strategic direction as we progress toward Vision 2030,” he stated.
The outcomes of our meeting further show that we are a smoothly functioning team prepared to accelerate industrialization and modernization as we address the increasing demands of our people, for an improved standard of living.
One area that will see the country attain its national objectives is the full use of the natural resources the country, said President Mnangagwa
“This is supported by actionable solutions and extraordinary choices to expand the utilization of our divinely provided resources for the advantage of our communities,” he stated.
Our shared commitment to broaden value chains, accelerate rural industrialization, and enhance the efficiency of agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and tourism, among other sectors, needs to be rooted in local communities.
President Mnangagwa stated that each party member had an obligation to work towards enhancing the lives of common citizens.
“We all share a holy responsibility to strive even harder in order to elevate numerous individuals from poverty to prosperity,” he stated.
Even more so, as we move towards the National Development Strategy 2.0, through a comprehensive approach involving the party, government, and society, I anticipate that stakeholders, including ministries, departments, and agencies, will enhance cooperation and coordination.

Over 3,000 participants gathered at Mutare Polytechnic College, the site of the conference, where various topics concerning the party’s condition and the economy were addressed.
When outlining the party’s decisions, Zanu PF Legal Affairs Secretary Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi mentioned that steps to boost the economy were the main focus during deliberations by various thematic committees.
