The Center for Change Management has urged the implementation of ethical and people-focused methods in utilizing technology to drive transformation within various industries.
This was included in the resolutions outlined in a statement released following the institute’s first annual conference in Lagos, which gathered experts in change management, policy makers, business leaders, scholars, and professionals from different fields.
The event, themed “Navigating to the Future: Synchronising People, Processes and Technology for the Next Era of Change,” included keynote speeches from industry experts who highlighted the importance of integrating human potential, business procedures, and new technologies to drive lasting change.
Delivering the statement, the institute’s Registrar, Joseph Anetor, stated that technology serves as both a facilitator and a source of disruption, and hence should be implemented in ways that focus on local conditions, inclusiveness, and ethical application. He highlighted that effective transformation demands forward-thinking and flexible management, backed by trust, involvement, and development of skills.
The communiqué stated, ‘Without trust, involvement, and development of skills, efforts toward change cannot last.’
It also emphasized the importance of rethinking organizational procedures to promote flexibility, creativity, and teamwork.
The ICM encouraged organizations to implement change management systems that combine individuals, procedures, and technology, while also pledging to enhance training programs, support research, and push for the ethical and people-focused application of technology.
The organization also committed to forming more robust collaborations with the government, the private sector, and development organizations to integrate change management into policy and operations.
It also reconfirmed its dedication to working with regulators, academic institutions, and industry partners to integrate change management into governance structures, corporate strategies, and educational programs.
“The institution will keep promoting leadership in dealing with the future through resilience, creativity, and responsibility. It will also create professional certification and ongoing education programs for those leading change,” the statement mentioned.
The ICM urged all involved parties to perceive change not as a difficulty but as a chance to create a sustainable and equitable future.
