It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a… ape?
Breathtaking video filmed by Trenda Kitchen on October 16 revealed how many monkeys suddenly jumped from trees into the water beneath at aFlorida state park.
The kitchen was kayaking at Silver Springs State Park in Marion County, Florida — roughly 40 miles from Gainesville — when the unusual incident occurred.
She exclaimed in disbelief: “It’s raining monkeys.”
‘This is crazy.’
The scene played out as Kitchen calmly rowed through the park, not realizing she was about to see one monkey after another diving into the very water she was in.
In the footage, the monkeys are observed leaping one by one from the tree branches into the water.
The creatures created loud thuds and large splashes while hurtling down into the blue.

As the primates dove into the water, the woman laughed to herself.
They’re diving in,” Kitchen chuckled. “Watch them all.
The monkeys found in Silver Springs Park are of the Rhesus macaque species, as reported by National Geographic.
Its beginnings date back to the 1930s, when the primates were originally the first monkeys brought to Florida.
A man known only as Colonel Tooey set the monkeys free on an island in the Silver River, aiming to enhance Florida’s tourism.
Over 300 monkeys, which are “reproducing quickly,” are now present in the park.
Primates are typically fearful of humans but may display aggression toward people when given food.

They are regarded as “strong swimmers,” as Kitchen observed.
She kept describing the amazing scene as the monkeys rushed down: “These are all the monkeys entering. Oh my goodness.”
Monkeys in the park have a dangerous type of herpes that seldom infects humans but can be deadly if it does.
Following over 30 seconds of macaques moving about, a monkey dived into the water near Kitchen.
“Proceed, little one,” she said, maintaining her space.
As the video concluded, the monkeys seemed to become calm and headed toward the beach — but Kitchen was left with the question that everyone was wondering.
She voiced her confusion: “What on earth is causing them all to jump?”
