Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 — Dinethma Ekanayaka from Sri Lanka demonstrated exceptional performance to claim the Girls’ Singles title at the ATF Under-14 C2 Colombo Week 1 Tennis Championship, hosted by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) with oversight from the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), which ended yesterday at the SLTA hard courts in Colombo.

Ekanayaka, a pupil from Maliyadeva Girls’ College in Kurunegala, defeated fellow Sri Lankan Sheshandri Fernando with a clear 4-1, 4-1 win in the championship, demonstrating her solid baseline play and calmness during the game.

In the Boys’ Singles final, the game was halted because of poor weather conditions when Shun Wing Leung from Hong Kong and Alexi Aldemita from the Philippines were tied at 4-4 in the first set. As the match could not proceed further, both athletes were named co-champions.

The second week of the ATF Under-14 C2 Colombo Tennis Tournament will begin today (Monday) at the SLTA hard courts in Colombo.
