Hanwha, who fell behind in the first match of the Korean Series, made adjustments to their starting lineup for the second game. Meanwhile, LG, having managed to take the lead, will keep their lineup unchanged.

Kim Kyung-moon, Hanwha’s manager, stated on the 27th at Seoul’s Jamsil Baseball Stadium before the second game of the Korean Series (a best-of-seven format, with the first team to four wins advancing), “Scoring runs is essential, so the offense needs to be prioritized. (Hwang) Young-muk has shown strength against the opposing pitcher, and we have adjusted the batting order. I hope he does well today to assist Ryu Hyun-jin.” Hanwha moved Son Ah-seop, who was the leadoff hitter in the first game, down to sixth as a designated hitter and promoted Hwang Young-muk to second baseman and leadoff position. Additionally, Hanwha shifted Ha Joo-seok from second base to shortstop. In the first game of the Korean Series the day before, Lee Do-yoon played as the shortstop.

Hwang Young-muk, who participated in 117 games this season as both a starter and a reserve, achieved a .273 batting average, collecting 71 hits, one home run, 22 RBIs, and one stolen base. Hwang Young-muk, who hit his sole home run of the season against LG, demonstrated impressive performance with a .409 batting average against them. In the first game of the Korean Series the day before, he came on as a substitute and went 0-for-1.

Hanwha’s opening pitcher, Ryu Hyun-jin, has regularly outperformed LG during the regular season. Ryu, who has traditionally been very effective against LG, played in 4 matches against them this year, securing 1 victory with a 1.08 ERA. Manager Kim Kyung-moon stated, “I hope he performs well without getting hurt in the chilly conditions.”

LG will keep the same batting order as in the first game. Yeom Kyung-yup, LG’s manager, stated, “Im Chan-kyu will set the stage, and whether the batting lineup performs well will decide the result.”

He stated, “Planning a strategy to counter Ryu Hyun-jin, the starter in the second game, is crucial for today’s win. Ryu typically throws fastballs to left-handed hitters and low changeups to right-handed hitters. Left-handed batters should actively go after his fastballs, while right-handed batters should avoid swinging at his low changeups.”

LG’s starting pitcher, Im Chan-kyu, has favorable experiences against Hanwha at Jamsil. He achieved a complete-game shutout in the first match, securing 2 wins, 1 loss, and a 1.59 ERA over 5 games. Among the nine teams, his ERA against Hanwha is the smallest. Manager Yeom stated, “If Im Chan-kyu doesn’t fall behind Ryu Hyun-jin in the starting pitcher competition, we can anticipate a competitive matchup.”

Pitcher Yonny Chirinos is receiving treatment for a strain in his side muscle. Manager Yeom stated, “The ideal situation would be for Game 3, but we won’t hurry him. He isn’t at a stage where he can’t participate in Game 4 either.”
