Sri Lanka, October 27 — As part of the ‘National Cricket Pathway’ initiative, designed to offer equal chances for any talented cricketer to join the national team, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has recently provided 22,684 cricket balls and equipment kits to school cricket teams for Under-13 and Under-19 boys, as well as Under-19 girls, throughout the country.

It is significant that this equipment was provided simultaneously to all 24 district sports associations, alongside the program conducted at the association headquarters, under the leadership of the Colombo District Cricket Association.

As per a proposal from the Executive Committee headed by Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva, these balls were given to 900 teams including 863 schools participating in the Under-13 season and 37 district teams featuring promising players from schools that do not use leather balls, 282 schools taking part in the Under-19 Third Division Boys tournament, and 121 schools competing in the Under-19 Girls cricket event.
