Super Formula has stated that it will introduce a third race during its final event at Suzuka as a substitute forthe postponed second race at Fuji Speedway earlier this month.

Due to the cancellation of the Sunday race at Fuji because of fog, the Japanese series has decided to extend what was originally scheduled as a double-header on 22-23 November into a triple-header, adding an additional race to the schedule on Sunday morning.

It will be a 19-lap short race without any pit stops, beginning at 9:50 am local time, with the starting positions determined by the results of the Sunday qualifying session at Fuji.

It means Tadasuke Makinowill begin from the pole position, providing a major advantage in his effort to narrow the 23.5-point gap behind the championship leaderSho Tsuboi

Igor Fraga qualified second for Nakajima Racing, ahead of Makino’s Dandelion Racing team-mate Kakunoshin Ohta, who is tied for second in points withAyumu Iwasa

Team MugenDriver Iwasa will begin from the fourth position, whereas Tsuboi will start in seventh place among the top TOM’S cars.

The inclusion of the rescheduled race on Sunday has also affected Saturday’s schedule, with two qualifying sessions planned in the morning to determine the starting grid for the two full-distance races taking place over the weekend.
