Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has raised doubts about the leadership of Liverpool’s veteran players, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, noting that their non-verbal cues during the team’s recent difficult period are a “significant issue.”

As reported by BBC Sports on Monday, Rooney made this statement during his most recent episode of The Wayne Rooney Show.

The five-time Premier League champion stated,

“No one anticipated this, it has struck them rapidly, it has struck them intensely, and I believe they are finding it difficult to discover a path forward,” he added.

This is a period in which the manager and team leaders must resolve things rapidly.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have both signed new contracts, but I don’t believe they have truly guided the team this season.

I believe body language reveals a great deal, and I notice somewhat different body language from the two of them. They are the top two players on the team, and if their body language isn’t correct, it impacts everyone else.

I could be mistaken, but if I were a Liverpool supporter or the manager, that would be a major issue for me.

He, however, mentioned that Arteta is in danger if Arsenal “don’t win the title now”

Unlike Liverpool’s challenges, Arsenal appear to be in a strong position to win the championship for the first time since 2004, having come in second place for the last three years.

Mikel Arteta’s team has secured their past four league matches, maintaining three straight shutouts, ending with a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

“The team is capable now, and I believe they’ve gained the experiences that have brought them close, but I think they’re prepared for it,” said Manchester United’s top scorer Rooney.

“If they don’t secure the victory now, you’re likely to witness a managerial change,” he emphasized.
