Kathmandu, Nov 3 – President Ramchandra Paudel departed for Doha on Monday morning, heading the Nepali team to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development, which will take place from November 4 to 6 in the Qatari capital.

President Paudel is set to speak at the summit’s primary session on November 4. Throughout his visit, he will also conduct individual meetings with the Qatari Amir and United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The conference, taking place 30 years following the initial event in Copenhagen in 1995, will address topics including worldwide inequality, population disparities, and the influence of technology on communities.
The conference in Doha is being co-hosted by the United Nations Division for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) along with the Qatari government.
As per UN DESA, the United Nations General Assembly, via resolutions 78/261 and 78/318, has chosen to hold the World Social Summit in 2025 with the theme “Second World Summit for Social Development.” Taking place at the level of heads of state or government, the summit seeks to tackle existing gaps, reaffirm commitment to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Programme of Action, and speed up the execution of the 2030 Agenda.
Nepal, which has been part of the United Nations since 1955, now leads the UN Economic and Social Council.
President Paudel is set to go back to his country on November 6 following the conclusion of his official trip.
