The Nigerian Air Force has named Air Vice Marshal Adeniran Ademuwagun as the 14th leader of the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna.

This came after the retirement of Air Vice Marshal Sani Rabe.

Ademuwagun, who previously served as the Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, Lagos, officially took charge during a short ceremony held at the institute’s headquarters in Kaduna on Tuesday.

This information was revealed in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations, Wing Commander Bassey Okon, on Tuesday.

Okon mentioned that Ademuwagun’s appointment is anticipated to boost AFIT’s prominence and international competitiveness.

Prior to his most recent assignment, Ademuwagun occupied various instructional, administrative, and leadership roles, such as Assistant Director of Information Communications Technology at NAF Headquarters; Dean of the Faculty of Ground and Communications Engineering at AFIT; and Director of Information Communications Technology at AFIT.

He also held the position of Commander, 651 Base Services Group, Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja; Director of Communications Engineering at NAF Headquarters, Abuja; and Director of Defence Space Utilisation at Defence Headquarters. A very skilled officer, Ademuwagun possesses various academic and professional credentials.

He earned a Master’s degree in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, a Master’s in Engineering (Project Management) from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, and a Master of Philosophy in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna. He also received a PhD in Wireless Communications Engineering from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.

“He is among the small number of Nigerians who have earned the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification and possesses further professional qualifications, such as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and membership with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). His military distinctions comprise the General Service Star (GSS), Distinguished Service Star (DSS), Pass Staff College (psc), and Fellowship of the National Defence College (fwc),” the statement said.

As a separate update, the Air Force also revealed the selection of Air Vice Marshal Osichinaka Chiedu Ubadike as the incoming Deputy Commandant at AFIT.

Ubadike, who took over from AVM Albert Bot, has been appointed as Deputy Director-General at the Defence Research and Development Bureau, leveraging significant academic and technical expertise for the role.

An Aerospace Engineering professor since July 2023, Ubadike has participated in many research and development projects at AFIT.

He once held the positions of Engineering Control Officer and Commanding Officer within the 431 Engineering Group prior to his appointment at AFIT as an instructor and administrative officer.
