Addis Ababa, November 7, 2025 (ENA)– Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed assessed the advancements made in the Megech Irrigation Development Project located in Gondar, an important effort designed to enhance agricultural output in the area.
In a social media update, the Prime Minister stated: “While reviewing matters in Gondar City, we evaluated the advancements made on the Megech Irrigation Development Project.”
The initiative covers a total area of 870 hectares and is anticipated to provide irrigation for around 17,000 hectares, stated PM Abiy.
As per his statement, the project has now arrived at a significant phase following the successful achievement of a critical milestone—the river diversion.
The ongoing tasks are proceeding as planned, and upon completion of the Megech dam, the irrigation advantages are anticipated to greatly boost the region’s farming output, he stated.
